1. Security

If Obama visits his grandma's home, he might just spark unnecessary attention and a notion that he's left loads of cash for the family. That's why, he won't be stepping there. The last time he came there, some thieves attempted to steal her solar panel.

2. The roads, man

The rains have washed away roads in some parts of the country and the government has already spent Ksh. 32 million to spruce up Nairobi. It's not possible to make the rest of the roads in Kenya look good as he'll be surprised by the damage that the rains have left. Obama's entourage wouldn't be willing to spend time on the road to tne Western part of the country. Also, they wouldn't risk the Kenyan air waves – out of Air Force One – to travel to K'Ogallo. That being said, he'll consider dropping by next time.

3. He'll be here for a short period

There are speculations that the U.S. president will be here only for 8 hours. This being the case, it means that he may not have time to visit the Western part of the country. It won't be practical for him to head north, come back and manage to attend to all the areas on his itinerary. He'll be exhausted by the end of it all!

4. It's not a home-coming visit

U.S. President Obama came after a courtesy call from Uhuru Kenyatta. If it were his official home-coming visit, he would have graced the town. So, for the time being he'll spend time in the CBD, probably visit the YALI Center at Kenyatta Univeristy and visit key tourism spots and government projects in the CBD.

5. It might be seen as an endorsement for opposition leader Raila Odinga

Raila has in the past visited the White House for talks with the U.S. president. If he went to K'Ogallo, it might be a 'conflict of interests' since he's coming in via a courtesy call by Uhuru. This will definitely hamper him from visiting the place when he jets in.
