Retired president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi is no more.

The second president passed away on Tuesday morning while receiving at the Nairobi Hospital. Moi was a widower after losing his wife Lena Moi on July 22, 2004, and never remarried.

Lena separated from Moi when he was vice-president. She finalized her divorce with the second president of Kenyan in 1979, a year after he became a president. Lena later retreated to Kabimoi ranch, where she lived a private rural life

She was a former teacher and ardent Christian who had been raised under strict African Inland Church (AIC) doctrines.

Mzee Moi was born in 1924 in Kabaraka village, Sacho division, Baringo county. He succeeded Kenya's founding president, Jomo Kenyatta, in 1978 and served for 24 years till 2002
