Mwangi Mathai, the ex-husband of Prof Wangari Maathai winner of the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize has passed on.

The former Lang'ata MP died on Saturday but details are still scanty. Orbituary in the Daily nation read,

It is with profound sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to glory of Hon. Mwangi Mathai, former MP for Lang’ata Constituency, Nairobi.

The died in 2011 after losing the battle to ovarian cancer and her remains were cremated at Kariokor crematorium as per her last wish.
