After he came under scrutiny for having authorised a police plane to pick his daughter in-law from Mombasa to Nairobi during the very day of the #GarissaAttack. He has is reportedly surprised by the fuss his decision has created and sees nothing wrong with it.

"To be honest, she is shocked and stressed, but I have told her not to worry about it," Colonel (rtd) Rodgers Mbithi told The Nairobian, revealing that the final year student at USIU has been disturbed by the issue.

The former presidential pilot for former heads of state Moi and Kibaki says that a tax payer cannot be denied the right to, for example, take photos with a police plane. He says that civilians are allowed to take photos even in the cockpit whenever the planes are on mission.

"When on a mission, you find many people requesting to take photos, either with the crew of the planes, including inside the cockpit. Since they are Kenyan taxpayers, we see nothing wrong with the requests. We allow them to do that," he revealed.

He acknowledged the fact that the young lady had taken photos with the planes before, but noted that those are old photos which were not taken on the day of the attack.
