Last year, there was a spate of acts of violence against women as idle, useless men violated the fairer sex alleging that they were indecently dressed. Yes, this is because to the idle men in the ghettos and the manambas, it makes sense strip an indecently dressed woman rather than cover her up.

But away from all that, there was a police officer who was involved in one of the stripping incidences. He was taken to trial but now, an amazing thing happened, the woman he stripped has asked that his case be dropped.

Yes, the very woman he victimized and humiliated has asked that he be set free!

The attempt by two complainants to withdraw a case on the stripping of a woman hit a snag last Wednesday, after a court said the prosecution had no powers to do so.

A Makadara court told Ms Regina Nyambura and Ms Martha Wambui they can’t withdraw the case in which six men have been charged with robbery with violence and stripping in public one of the women.

Informing them  that robbery with violence was a serious offense and that the case had drawn much public interest.

The accused are Michael Kamau, Zachary Gitonga, Kelvin Njuguna, David Kinuthia, Lawrence Kuria and Hosea Kassim.

The mens lawyer, Mr Samwel Ayora, accused the prosecution of deliberately delaying the case.

The six were charged in November last year with robbing Ms Nyambura of a phone, 61 eggs and Sh950 in Kayole, Nairobi. They also stripped her and indecently touched her sister, the court heard.
