Rose Muhando has been not active in the last few years compared to the past.
She was energetic and churned hits every month but the once-upon-a-time celebrated songstress seems to be fading away into insignificance.
From Nibebe to Mteule ule Macho to Nipe Uvumilivu, most of us had crammed her songs and would sing word for word.
In 2016, rumors went viral that the Nibebe hit singer is abusing hard drugs leaving her fans heartbroken.
But she later came out to address the rumors that she’s indeed fighting drug addiction.
“I DON’T ABUSE PILLS (DRUGS) AND I WILL NEVER ABUSE PILLS. THE RUMOUR MONGERS KNOW VERY WELL I DON’T HAVE ANYONE WHO WOULD COME TO MY DEFENSE. I AM NOT INDULGING IN PILLS IN ANY WAY, AND THE MORE THEY TALK, THE MORE IT AFFECTS MY FAMILY PSYCHOLOGICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY. I AM A MOTHER TO THREE CHILDREN, I HAVE RELATIVES (THEY ARE BEING AFFECTED BY THE RUMOURS). IF THAT IS THE SCANDAL MY ENEMIES THOUGHT WOULD BRING ME DOWN MUSICALLY, THEN THEIR EFFORTS ARE FUTILE. THE PROPAGATORS OF THOSE RUMOURS ASKED ME TO WORK WITH THEM BUT I REFUSED,” she said in a previous interview.
In 2017, Rose Muhando exposed a Tanzanian pastor for trying to get into her pants. The talented singer alleged the pastor, who’s identity she chose to keep secret, wanted her to pay him in kindness after paying for the production of her music. When she declined, the man of the cloth went ahead to use the police to harass her.
“KWA KUWA ANAFAHAMIANA NA POLISI, WAKUU WA VITUO VYA POLISI NA VIONGOZI WA DINI, INAKUWA RAHISI KUNISINGIZIA MAMBO MENGI MACHAFU. SITUMII MADAWA YA KULEVYA NA SITATUMIA. KAMA ALIONA NDIYO SKENDO ITAKAYO-NIMALIZA, NAJUA ATASHINDWA, ANAYEFANYA HIVYO NI MTU ANAYETAKA KUNIMALIZA, ALITAKA NIWE MTU WAKE WA NGONO NA KUMFANYIA KAZI, NIKAKATAA,” said.
“SIJAWAHI KUJIINGIZA KWENYA MADAWA YA KULEVYA NA ANAVYOZUNGUMZA, NASIKITIKA KWA SABABU ANAIUMIZA FAMILIA YANGU KISAIKOLOJIA. MIMI NI MAMA WA WATOTO WATATU (GIFT, NICOLAS NA MAXIMILIAN) NA NINA NDUGU ZANGU, NASINGIZIWA MAMBO HAYO KWA SABABU SINA MTETEZI LAKINI NI VYEMA AKAJUA MTETEZI WANGU NI MUNGU.”
Recently, Rose Muhando broke her silence and while addressing a congregation, she responded to those peddling lies that she was dying and was no longer going to sing again.
“Who doesn’t know that once I sang until the earth shook? Who doesn’t?” she posed.
“THE DEVIL WAS NOT PLEASED, HE FOUGHT ME AND BEAT ME DOWN, TO SILENCE ME, ANYHOW HE COULD. THE LORD SAW ALL THIS AND HE TOLD THE DEVIL TO DO ALL HE WANTS WITH ME AS LONG AS HE DOESN’T TOUCH MY LIFE. BUT NOW, HERE I STILL AM, DOING FINE,” ROSE SAID STANDING ON THE PULPIT.
“And God has given me another precious gift, [Beside singing] to be a fisher of men. For this I know the devil, the wizards, witches, demons and all evil people know what is going to happen,” she told the congregation.
“Mimi ni mtu wa kawaida, hata ukiniangalia. Lakini Mungu ameniheshimu. Watu wengi wanasema nimeimba, lakini moyoni mwangu sijaimba bado. I told God last year, give me the chance, I want to sing my heart out.
“FOR 4 YEARS, GOD TOLD ME, BE STILL, KEEP QUIET, I WANT TO SHOW YOU WONDERS. AND FOR 4 YEARS I KEPT SILENT. I DID NOT RECORD A SINGLE SONG. BUT DECEMBER LAST YEAR, GOD TOLD ME TO GO CAST MY NET INTO THE OCEAN. THE TIME HAS ARRIVED. AND I DID. I DESIRE FOR THE WORLD TO KNOW THAT THERE IS SOMEONE WHO IS [STILL STANDING], BECAUSE OF HIS STRENGTH.”
Well, Rose has been posting on social media in the recent past and her latest post read:
“Ashukuriwe mungu mwenye huruma.”
This clearly indicates that the singer is grateful to God for favoring her.
