Oliver Mtukudzi sadly passed away yesterday. The 66-year-old Zimbabwean legend had already done 66 albums and was recording his 67th album at the time of his death.
New and interesting revelations are coming out after his death. Not bad ones at that but information that showed that he was someone who did not mind sharing the stage/song with less famous/established musicians.
One of those is Tanzanian singer Rayvanny. The Wasafi Records artiste revealed on his Instagram page that he had a recorded a song with the late Great icon of African music. His caption is below:
Can’t beleive that We are not Together….I remember Last time you asked about release date of Our Song with you and @jahprayzah and today we are not Together…. … MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PEACE (R.I.P DADDY ) LEGEND …

The late artiste also collaborated with other heavyweights like Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Their wonderful song, “Neria” is below:
He also featured on a couple of songs with another great African musician, Hugh Masekela. The two long-time friends did a few songs together including, “Tapera” and “Berita”.
They two were working on other songs together until the untimely death of Hugh last year, which coincidentally took place on the same day Oliver died this year!
May his soul rest in peace.
