Njeri is a fast-rising Kenyan female rapper who has won the hearts of many. She raps in Kikuyu and brings the best out of Kenyan hip hop. Her style is unique and timeless. She has now taken things a notch higher by teaming up with popular Kenyan rapper STL in a new track.
The song, "Miti Ni Dawa", is inspired by recent reports of gender based violence especially from Nyeri where women are chopping off men's genitals. The song has new hip hop beats and has a trap music element. The lyrics are funny yet educative.
"It's basically telling the ladies to stop the chopping off and the men to reform," she said.
Njeri says working with STL has been "inspiring and eye opening." Njeri came into the limelight this year after releasing the song "Nduta" which was an instant hit.
“It’s just a feel good song. Basically, it tells ladies to put their pants back on ’cause lately there’s this craze of every young girl coming out of school wanting to be a socialite, taking nude pic(tures)…you know?” she told me at the time. Since then, she has attracted the attention of top Kenyan musical acts; from Elani to H_art The Band.
