Quick and effective home remedies on how to treat a hangover

The weekend is here and every one is looking forward to going to their favorite joint to enjoy a drink.

However many do not love the hangovers.

Below are easy home remedies that will get rid of that headache Asap.

1. Lemon 

Add two teaspoons of fresh lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey to a glass of warm water. Stir well and drink it down slowly.

Do this as soon as you wake up, as well as two or three times more throughout the day.

2. Chew peppermint

Peppermint aids digestion and helps relieve tension, bloating and nausea, some of the most common symptoms of an acute hangover.

It also speeds up the detoxification process, to effectively maximize on this tiny plant

  • Simply chew some fresh peppermint leaves throughout the day. It will relax the intestines and help you recover quickly.
  • Make a cup of peppermint tea by pouring one cup of boiling water over one teaspoon of dried peppermint. Cover it, let it steep for 15 minutes and then strain it. Drink one to two cups of this herbal tea after you wake up.

3. Get enough sleep, drink lots of water

Getting enough sleep is also a sure way of treating a hangover after all the brain needs time to rest. It is also advisable to hydrate, drink lots of water to replenish what was lost.

4. Drink some soup

This is the best time to pass by your favorite joint and ask for some soup with some ‘pipili kwa umbali’, it is a sure way of treating your hangover.

5. Drink sugar concoction or anything sugary

Studies show that fructose may speed alcohol metabolism, thus reducing the risk of a hangover. It’s important to eat sugar while you’re drinking, not before.

Put a few sugar spoons in a mug of warm water and stir, drink before it goes cold, you can also enjoy a glass of orange juice.
