Kenneth Matiba is among the few Kenyan veterans who have lived to witness Kenya celebrate its 50th Independence Day. The former opposition leader who is recuperating at the Karen Hospital where he was admitted last month  was visited by President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday whom he spent some time with.

The 82-year-old Matiba has been ailing since 2007 but from the look of things, his health has improved. The veteran politician was also among the many Kenyans who suffered during the Moi regime.
