Margaret and I have arrived in Windhoek, Namibia, to attend the inauguration of president-elect Dr Hage Geingob as the country’s third president. Kenya and Namibia have a special relationship as Kenyan forces played a major role in UN peacekeeping operations in the country. Even after the end of peacekeeping operations, the new government of Namibia asked Kenyan peacekeepers to stay on, so that they could train the Namibian military. While in Namibia, I will open Kenya House which will house the Kenyan embassy."

The inauguration follows elections held on 28 November 2014. The inauguration ceremony will coincide with the 25th Independence Anniversary celebrations of the Republic of Namibia.
