President Uhuru Kenyatta gave the US President a small elephant sculpture and a portrait drawn by Kisumu-based artist Collins Okello, popularly known Jaduong' as a gift. Unfortunately, Obama was not able to go with the gifts.

Even if the president loved the gift, the constitution of the United States of America restricts him from accepting any gift from heads of states without approval from the Congress.

The President and all federal officials are restricted by the Constitution, at Article I, Section 9, clause 8, from receiving any “presents” from foreign governments, kings, or princes, without the consent of the Congress. The Congress has consented generally, in the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act.

See what the constitution stipulates on the next page

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State. - US Constitution (Article I, Section 9)

According to the Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President, the process of channeling the gifts to Obama has started, and he would have them soon.
