KTN's Joy Doreen Biira has taken to social media to share a heartfelt message in honor of her late friend Ahmed Darwesh. The Swahili news anchor passed away yesterday after battling with Diabetes for a while.

Media personalities and his close friends have described Ahmed as humble and caring. Larry Madowo, opened up about how Ahmed helped him when he was still a struggling journalist.

This is what Joy posted:

"Ahmed Darwesh... words fail me!

I don't recall one single day you didn't have a smile on your face at work or anywhere else I met you. Your humility was just admirable and your kindness unconditional.

We talked business and about family and you always had time spared to find out about colleagues and friends beyond the normal "hi" greetings we used to in the newsroom.

Remember when I was pregnant with Ty (my son), you came to my desk every single day to ask how I was doing, whether I needed anything to drink or eat... and after he was born you continuously asked how family is doing. We joked about how I inspired you to get baby number 3

You cared. You mentored. You inspired.

Going to miss the jokes in the newsroom that made us all smile and laugh... you're gone way too soon friend!

Everything happened so fast but now the body pain is no more - Rest well my friend. May Allah comfort your family and the little girls you showed so much love

You my friend were a General in all ways, and so shall you remain in my heart."
