There are screenshots making rounds of very popular Nairobi "mix master" DJ Lyta asking an artiste to pay Ksh.3000 per song to be featured on his video mix.

This barely a week after the war between Kenyan artistes and DJ prompted PRiSK and KAMP to suspend the said DJ's license that requires all DJ's to pay Sh10,000 annually.

We reached out to DJ Lyta, who did not deny the allegation, but explained why he asked for the money.

Most of these musicians are my friends, so they came to me and requested to be featured on my mixes. unfortunately, I have a selection of music that I play, I can't  just play anything. If you listen to my mixes, you'll realize that I play dancehall music a lot. The problem with these artistes is that they don't understand  that I have a crowd, and I can't play them boring music. So I ask them to pay to put them off.
