Former Nairobi Governor Gideon Mbuvi, also known as Mike Sonko, has responded to allegations that he inappropriately touched Senator Karen Nyamu during the recent Kamba Festival held at the Carnivore grounds on Saturday, September 14.

A video has been trending on social media showing Karen Nyamu dancing while standing behind Mike Sonko.

As the nominated senator continues to dance, Sonko is seen watching and allegedly touching her.

This action by the former Nairobi governor has sparked a major discussion on social media, pressuring him to respond.

In his reply, Sonko noted how the video has circulated widely on social media and questioned whether there was any problem with what he did.

“I’ve seen this clip making rounds on social media. Let me ask, what’s wrong with admiring with your eyes?” Sonko wrote on X.

Possibly meaning, “I’ve seen this video going viral on social media. Let me ask, what’s wrong with admiring from a distance?”

The politician attached a screenshot of the video where it was claimed that he had touched Senator Nyamu’s behind.

The Kamba Festival took place on Saturday, September 14, attracting a large crowd of fans. Among those who attended were nominated Senator Karen Nyamu and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

Senator Nyamu was seen dancing on top of a chair, completely absorbed in the music. Wearing an orange t-shirt, blue jeans, and a cap, she enjoyed the entertainment while cheering the performers on stage.

Senator Nyamu and Sonko were spotted chatting before heading to the stage to address the crowd.

The event’s MC, Oga Obinna, surprised many by capturing Nyamu dancing from the stage. He posted the video on his Instagram Stories, along with other reactions to her enthusiastic chair-top dancing.
