The past two weeks, the personal data of different politicians made their way online, with Kenyans reaching out to them over concerns about the proposed Finance Bill 2024.

The bone of contention is that the tax measures in the bill affect many spheres of life and the leaked phone numbers were used to urge MPs to reject the bill.

Those who received messages from Kenyans have protested it and shared screenshots of what they call harassment.

But Governor Johnson Sakaja appears to be rather amused at the messages he is receiving.

Yesterday evening, the Nairobi governor shared a screenshot of a young lady shooting her shot at him.

On his X.com page, he indicated he was amused, "Gen-Z bana. Hizi number mnatumia vibaya sasa," he added laughing emojis.

The message from the hopeful candidate?

"Hi Governor mjamo can you adopt a 25-year-old bouncing baby girl?" read the naughty text.

Meanwhile the Government has warned against sharing phone numbers online.

The Office of the Data Protection Agency on Wednesday, June 19,  warned Kenyans against the new trend of sharing contacts and personal details of politicians and police officers on social media.

A statement from the Data Protection Commissioner on Wednesday afternoon said the trend has been going on over the past week without the consent of affected citizens, contrary to the provisions of Article 31 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2019, and its attendant regulations.

"In view of the foregoing, the office wishes to advise members of the public to refrain from further sharing personal information that infringes on individuals' right to privacy," reads part of the statement.

The statement further called on any member of the public whose privacy has been violated to file a formal complaint.
