Ian Njoroge apologises to cop he assaulted

• The apology was issued in the presence of ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Ian's parents at the politician's offices.

Ian Njoroge, the 19-year-old charged with assaulting a police officer during a traffic stop in Mirema, has apologized for the incident.

The apology was issued in the presence of ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Ian's parents at the politician's offices.

"I would like to take this chance to offer my apologies to the State and also to Mr. Jacob I'm really sorry and it will never happen again."

Looking at an individual away from the camera, Ina added "I'm really sorry" to which Sonko praised him "Very good".

Ian's parents also spoke after the apology at the prompting of Sonko.

His mother began, "I take this opportunity in support of my son to say sorry to the State to the police force, and more particularly to Mr Jacob Ogendo, I apologize again in support of Ia.

I am very sorry. And to you Mr Mike Sonko, mheshimiwa, thank you so much for coming in handy when I needed that help."

"May the Lord God bless you," as Sonko accepted her gratitude.

Sonko revealed he had a heart-to-heart with Ian, "Ian Njoroge is out, we thank God ametoka, although ako na injuiries kidogo the mother is her, the father is here, and makosa imefanyika," he stated of the assault case.

Adding,

"Makosa imefanyika, huyu ni mtoto mdogo, wengi wetu ni wazazi na watoto hukosea. Hatumforce Ian ku apologize, but tumeongea na yeye he is regretting what he did na mimi ameniassure haitafanya tena." 

Sonko also said he mentors many young people and will take on Ian as well. 

"I will take on Ian going forward. Sijui Ian, sijui wazazi wake but as a leader on behalf of this family on behalf of Ian wea apologize to the public, we apologize to the National Police Service, all the officers countrywide in uniform."
