International Women's Day was an opportunity many men used to send out inspiring messages about the role women play in society.
Among them was Kilifi Governor Gideon Mungaro, who penned on his social media on the theme of the day and what it means to the women folk.
"Today, we celebrate the significant role women play in our society. This year’s theme is "DigitALL”: Innovation and technology for gender equality. Digital technology has continued to open new doors for the global empowerment of women, girls, and other marginalized groups," he encouraged in an inspiring message to women.
He later shared several pictures of his wife who was meeting area residents to mark the day. Her name is Susanne Mungaro.
The county First Lady joined scores of women at Kaloleni sub-county for festivities together with Maendeleo ya Wanawake leaders for prayers and words of encouragement.
She was also joined by the Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule. Flora is the first female deputy governor in the region.
The mzungu county First lady also wrote a message "Tungependa kuwatakia nyote siku njema ya kimataifa ya wanawake."
