Court upholds election of Wajir Governor Abdullahi

Justice George Dulu said the county chief was validly elected and that the election was held in accordance with the law.

The High court has upheld the election of Ahmed Abdullahi as the Governor of Wajir County.

In a ruling delivered on Friday, Justice George Dulu said the county chief was validly elected and that the election was held in accordance with the law.

The petition was lodged by Abdullahi's rival Adan Mohamed Hassan who came second during the August 9, 2022 election.

Hassan, who is the former National Hospital Insurance Fund CEO, sought the nullification of Abdullahi's election on grounds that there were gross discrepancies in Form 37A returns.
