President William Ruto on Monday stopped a Tanzanian official from translating his English speech to Swahili.

Ruto was making his speech when the official intercepted to translate but he told him off saying he will confuse him.

"I don't think it is necessary to translate, kuna mtu haelewi hapa kiingereza? Wewe wachana nayo mimi nitarudia kwa Kiswahili baadaye. Wewe utanichanganya zaidi wewe," Ruto said as the attendees in the room burst into laughter.

This translates to : "Is there anyone here who doesn't understand English? I will repeat in Swahili later because you will confuse me." 

The President delivered his speech in English and at some point shifted to Swahili to explain what he had stated.

He, however, faced difficulty in translating his remarks and was sometimes forced to get back to English.

"Poleni Kiswahili yangu kidogo ni lukumba lukumba, lakini ndio hivyo sasa tutazoea nikija mara mbili tatu," he said.

Translates to; "I am sorry my swahili is not fluent, but I shall get it right after one or two visits."

Ruto arrived in Tanzania on Sunday for a two-day state visit. The President thanked Tanzanians for their support to Kenya during the election period.

He assured them of a good trade relations between the two countries.
