The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has officially gazetted William Ruto as the President-elect of the Republic of Kenya.

In the notice dated August 16, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has also gazetted Rigathi Gachagua as the Deputy President-elect.

This follows the events of Monday, where Ruto was announced as the winner of the hotly contested August 9, General election.

While reacting to the news, Ugands online have congratulated voters for peacefully casting their vote as well as being patient before the results were announced.

Under a comment by Uganda writer Charles Onyanfgo Oboo, Ugandans are telling Kenyans that they too experienced anxiety waiting fore the announcement.

He wrote

"Kenya's neighbours are all red-eyed, they haven't been sleeping much. On the bright side, #KenyanElection2022 has also revealed how much we are into each other's business. Much, much deeper than imagined. This East African dog will hunt, after all 2/2"

They also sent messages of peace and tolerance.

@IssacJejeWe will soon start preaching and teaching "Democracy of Kenya" in Uganda and define it by how they define it, we will soon be learning from Kenya if we don't wake up to the challenge, they have set the bar too high!!!!

@TMK95127774Charles, Ugandans have a cause for concern over what's happening in Kenya, wether social, emotional political or psychological, it's a nerve to the heart of Uganda,

@Kato_patuCharles, our attention to the Kenyan election is two fold, we admire the transparency and transition. But also, your country is our see port, everything that happens directly or indirectly affects us.

@GoodlyMonteiro·18hWe also have an item of interest there, awaiting repatriation

@LHamudanTrue, Kenya is a case study for many Ugandans

@MoKomsI agree....Kenya has demonstrated that it can be a model for regional democracy

@MChagaraWe need to be paid for this stress😂
