A mother-in-law and her son-in-law will work together for the next five years after they were both declared winners for MCAs seats in Nakuru County.
Mwangi Ngarama and his mother-in-law Grace Mwathi vied for the position under United Democratic Alliance (UDA) tickets and clinched the seats.
Mwathi had tried to contest for the MCA position in 2017 but lost after she came third but did not give up.
She has been serving as a nominated MCA in the Nakuru County Assembly.
Ngarama, on the other hand, was first elected to the county assembly in 2013.
Coincidentally, Ngarama's wife and daughter to Mwathi, Lilian Mwathi, has been working as a clerk in the Nakuru County Assembly for the last five years.
“I feel honoured by the trust the people of Bahati have bestowed on me to lead them for the next five years. It is even a bigger honour that my son-in-law has also been elected,” Mwathi said.
Mwathi said despite being in the County Assembly with her daughter she did her best to ensure that they would not sit in any committee at the same time.
“We shall do the same this time to ensure my daughter and her husband do not find ourselves in the same committee,” said Mwathi.
