George Wajackoyah, the presidential candidate for the Roots party, was unable to be recognized by the Kiems kit, hence he did not cast his ballot.
Wajackoyah arrived in a two-vehicle convoy at Indangalasia Primary School in Matungu constituency at 10:10 am, but was unable to cast a ballot owing to a technical issue.
Before leaving, he had a brief conversation with the presiding officer.
“I understand what it is, but how long should I wait to vote?” he posed. Wajackoyah then walked away from the station without speaking to the press.
He is the sole hopeful for president who has not yet voted.
There have been reports of failure of the KIEMs kits at a number of different Matungu constituency voting places.
Due to the failure of the KIEMs kits, voting was delayed for more than four hours in Namulungu, Mirere, Namanga, and Khalaba polling places.
Anxious voters got into heated arguments with election officials, alleging that it was all part of the rigging scheme.
The problem was being addressed by the commission's technical staff, according to Kakamega county Returning Officer (RO) Joseph Ayata.
According to him, there was a technical issue and the manipulation of the voting process was unrelated to it.
