Politics as a career is one tricky and uncertain path to take. It shouldn't come as a surprise when it leads you to bankruptcy due to money squandered on campaigns with all your savings.

In Kenya, everyone who joins the political path has been working in a different field. Some quit their careers for politics while some join politics as a retirement plan.

From journalists, lawyers, the police force, public service, and teachers. Below let's highlight politicians who quit their careers for politics.

Polycarp Igathe Kamau

Mr.Igathe is a business man ,and corporate executive who before joining politics was vice president in charge of sales and marketing in Vivo energy Africa.

He was also the acting Chief commercial officer in Equity Group Holdings. Polycarp Igathe is now vying for Nairobi gubernatorial position.

Aden Duale

He is the current member of parliament for the Garissa Town Constituency. He was a teacher by profession before joining politics.

Hussein Mohamed

The ex-citizen tv anchor joined politics as Deputy President William Ruto's head of communication in the latter's presidential campaign.

Ann Wamuratha

Kiambu women representative aspirant is quitting her job as a marriage therapist-cum-counsellor to join the race to be the women representative of the second largest populated county in Kenya, Kiambu.

Erastus Njoka

Chuka University Vice-chancellor, Professor Erastus Njoka also resigned to join the Tharaka Nithi gubernatorial race, with his opponent being the current governor Onesmus Muthomi Njuki.

Felix Odiwour

Comedian Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o, was a radio presenter at radio Africa's Kiss FM radio before joining Lang'ata member of Parliament's political post. He is also a Kenyan director and an actor.

Granton Graham Samboja

Granton was a media executive at Royal Media Services(RMS ) and a news anchor at Radio Citizen. He quit media and successfully joined politics in 2017.

He became the second governor of Taita Taveta County on a Jubilee ticket. The media personality is currently battling to retain his sit in the 2022 general elections.
