Comedian MC Jessy has stepped down his bid to become the next Imenti South Member of Parliament.

The comedian who had expressed his interest in the position under the UDA Party dropped his bid in favour of fellow party member Mwiti Kathaara.

This follows a meeting between Deputy President William Ruto, MC Jessy and aspirant Mwiti Kathaara.

Deputy President William Ruto through his Twitter said the comedian will take up a role in his presidential campaign team.

"MC Jessy (Jasper Muthomi) will join the presidential campaign team after postponing his parliamentary bid in favor of Mwiti Kathaara for the South Imenti Seat," he wrote.

In a past interview with Mpasho, Jessy had said he was sure he would win the seat as God has never failed him.

"God did not bring me this far to embarrass me. I will win and I there is no losing. Meru is Ruto-nated and I am winning South Imenti. My spirit is right. I have never been sleepless and I know God is giving me that opportunity."
