Starehe MP Charle Kanyi, alias Jaquar, had a  rough time trying to sell his candidature for the Starehe parliamentary seat.

The MP, who is seeking to defend his seat on a UDA ticket, was booed on Wednesday during the UDA party campaign trail in Nairobi county that was led by deputy William Ruto.

In various stopovers, specifically in Muthurwa and Ngara, the MP was treated to a rude shock as residents shouted him down.

Jaguar who was ushered to the podium to address a crowd in Muthurwa market was met with resistance from a section of the crowd who resoundingly showed gestures disproving his bid.

The MP was forced to rush his speech through amidst chants that were in favour of his opponent Simon Mbugua.

“Mimi sitasema maneno mengi...Mungu awabariki,” Jaguar said amidst the heckling.

Mbugua, who is eyeing the seat on a UDA ticket, had a field day as his address was in all appearances positively received by the crowd.

Mbugua is seeking to vie for the seat after resigning as East African Legislative Assembly MP.

Ruto was accompanied by a number of leaders including Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, MPs Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Ndindi Nyoro(Kiharu), Millicent Omanga (Nominated), among others.

The group pitched a tent in the Starehe constituency.

The DP used the occasion to drum support for his bottom-up economic model saying it is the only solution to the existing inequality in Kenya.
