Afia Juma, the mother of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's wife Zara is dead.
In a statement on his social media, Gideon mourned the family matriarch who he described as a humble and strict mum.
"I saddened by the passing on of Mama Afia Juma - mother to my wife Zara Moi. She was a humble, introspective yet strict mother-in-law. May Allah rest her soul in peace," he wrote.
In a press statement, KANU Secretary- General Nick Salat said the mother of Zara Moi died on Thursday morning.
"The passing away early today of Mama Afia Juma, the mother to Zara Moi who is the wife of our National Chairman, is indeed devastating," read part of a statement from Salat.
He added,
"As a party, we convey our heartfelt condolences and assure them that they are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May Allah grant Zara Moi and the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss."
