Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua launched his 2022 manifesto on Sunday, December 5.

In the list of things that Alfred Mutua promised to do if elected Kenya's fifth president, there are some that caused a social media frenzy.

One of his proposals that sparked debate is to give newlyweds half a million to establish their homes. This, he said is payable in 20 years.

Kenyans on Twitter sparked debate on whether this idea is applicable in Kenya.

Another proposal is to have employees pay their staff twice a month instead of the normal monthly salaries.

“I want us to introduce economics of broadening the base by paying our employees twice a month to increase circulation. That way, people can manage their money,” he said.

This has also sparked debate on whether it can be applicable given the country's economic situation.

Another proposal that sparked debate is having swimming pools in every county.

"So many people do not know how to swim, every County will be urged to build a swimming pool to prevent drowning incidents."
