Beauty pageant director Ignatius Wafula has thrown his hat into the political ring. He plans to vie for the position of MCA for the Highrise Ward, Langata constituency.
He will be running under the Amani National Council party ticket.
Speaking to Mpasho, he said that he will "tackle insecurity, poverty and rampant unemployment in his bid to also support the party's presidential candidate Musalia Mudavadi."
Ignatius says that the reason he opted for Highrise is that "I have all the necessary credentials for that leadership role and above all, I was raised in Highrise, so I know first hand the challenges facing the slums dwellers."
Ignatius ran the countrywide Miss Cultural Heritage, a beauty pageant that did not have restrictions on height and weight, all you needed to join the pageant was grit, brawn and a love for your cultural heritage.
Ignatius joins media personality Jalango who is also vying for a political seat in Langata.
In a past interview, Jalango explained, “So I have decided to bring the dream back here in Nairobi, back to County number 047 not head to head with Sonko because Sonko is my guy…that’s suicidal, ask Kidero he can tell you.
I want to come back and take Langata…MP Langata. ODM has never been lost in Langata for over three decades…I want to go back and bring the pride of Baba in Langata.”
Speaking during a Mpasho Live interview, Jalango who is eyeing the MP seat, said he chose to join politics because it's a good chance to better people's lives.
"I went to school to finish my courses at Daystar University where I also studied community development. I realized how much you can do for the community.
For you to make people listen to you, you have to make a difference in their life and I want to do that by making Langata great again."
