Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney has lost her sister Nancy Cheptoo.
The 54-year-old retired teacher succumbed to cancer complications.
The death of Nancy comes a year after their father, Edward Karoney lost his life after being involved in a motorbike accident.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent condolences to the family of Farida Karoney, saying that her legacy will live in the thousands of people she mentored in her teaching career.
“It is very unfortunate and sad that Nancy has lost her fight with cancer at an age when your family needed her the most.
It is even more painful that she has passed away, just one year after the sudden death of your father and family patriarch Mzee Edward Kiprotich,
"As a nation we shall forever be grateful to Nancy for the invaluable contribution she made in the education sector where she taught many Kenyans who are now serving this great country in various sectors of our economy,” President Uhuru condoled the family.
