Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has stood out as one of the top female leaders in Kenya.

She rose up the public service ladder and became a Cabinet Secretary, and later one of the first female Governors in Kenya.

Notably, Waiguru's inner circle is made up of men; her husband Lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo, sons Ian and Ron, and Don.

Kamotho is a renowned lawyer, who has been representing her in legal cases.

He says that he supports her wife's decision and doesn't have to rubber-stamp anything she does.

"I always support my Mrs 110%. By the way, why do people assume women leaders need men's hand holding? No one ever asks wives about their husband's political decisions. Patriarchy must fall," Kamotho said recently.

For her sons, Waiguru describes them as a treasure and she is disappointed that they have grown up, and now have to live away from her.

One of her sons, Ron won a prestigious law scholarship amounting to Ksh 750, 505.

On the other hand, Ian Waiguru is an IT guru, the founder and CEO of the company by the name Something Inc.

Yesterday, the Governor made a big political move by joining William Ruto's UDA Party.

This, she said, was not only influenced by her mother, but also her last born son.

“My mother told me 'keep moving around, but we have already moved to Ruto’s side'. [My] last-born son, while having breakfast with me sometime back, told me, 'Mum, you know we are hustlers?'" Waiguru posed.
