Sharon Otieno's mum Melida Auma has revealed she was against her daughter's relationship with Governor Okoth Obado.

Speaking during an interview on Ilikuwaje with Massawe Japanni, the mother of four shared,

"I did not feel good when I found out and I even told her I did not want the relationship. But she was over 18 years.

I think she was influenced by her peers. The youths of today end up relating with their peers rather than parents. As a teenager, our girls sometimes ignore the parental advice and listen to their peers.

And something positive or negative can occur, and in this case, something bad occurred.

Sharon's decision to date Obado never interferred with my marriage because I always kept him( husband) in the know."

Melida says it's not been easy for her as society judges her harshly especially given the circumstances her daughter lost her life.

"I am being judged harshly because in the African setting when a child does good, she belongs to the father. But when she is wrong she belongs to her mother."

I would read the comments on social media but never respond to them. Some people attack even your 'bedroom' as if they know it more than you do.

Melida is vying for the Women Representative seat, Homa Bay county.

She hopes to represent hustlers like herself.
