Former Miss Kenya and politician Orie Rogo Manduli was pronounced dead on Wednesday 8, September 2021.

Manduli was once in a semi-coma state which was coupled with kidney failure, low blood pressure and oxygen levels, this is according to a poster made by her daughters Janice and Elizabeth.

Manduli was reported to have died in her Riverside home.

In a past poster appealing for help, her daughters said that;

"Close to 4 weeks ago our beloved mother was rushed to Nairobi (A&E) after collapsing at her home and was brought in a semi-coma state, coupled with kidney failure, low blood pressure and oxygen levels."

"Her team of doctors at NH have fought valiantly to save mum's life - including complete kidney failure, blood transfusions, severe pneumonia and sepsis (bacterial infection), blood clots in her lungs and legs, and severe edema of the body. "

"As her daughters, we have advocated for her care and ensured her medical bills has been taken care of. However, her aggressive treatments, expensive drugs and ICU have exhausted our funds, (insurance and personal) as we continue to face a rising bill. Hence, we have no option but to turn to you and appeal for your help and monetary contribution. We have  spent over KES 10M (cumulative) and have a current bill of KES 3M and rising."

"We are cognizant these are tough times for everyone and why your contribution is  most appreciated. Mum is still in ICU and though she is making small strides she is still very sick."

Manduli is eulogized as a fashion icon who was the first woman to chair the NGO Council.

She also made history by becoming the first African woman rally driver to grace the Safari Rally when she took part in the 1974 edition alongside her late co-driver Sylvia Omino.

She was crowned Miss Kenya, at the age of 16 while still in secondary school.
