The mother of the late Sharon Otieno is eyeing an MCA seat in Homabay County.

According to Melida Auma, she is determined to represent the Homa Bay Town West ward and also find a means to fend for her children and grandchildren that Sharon left behind.

"I decided to try the MCA seat because I want a better life for my children and grandchildren. It is tough, but I will try," Auma told Nation.

According to Auma, many people were close to her family after Sharon's murder, but later on stopped associating with them.

"These people were only after political mileage. They forgot us. They stopped picking our calls as soon as we interred our daughter's remains," says Mrs Auma.

She is actively involved in political activities in the area and will be contesting on a UDA Party ticket.

Last week, Auma is said to be among a group of DP Ruto supporters who were arrested for holding an illegal political gathering.

As Auma seeks a political seat, the killers of her daughter, Sharon Otieno has not been brought to book.

At the centre of the murder case is Migori Governor Okoth Obado, who was the father of Sharon's unborn child.
