Politician Rachel Shebesh has spoken about her lessons after turning 50 years old.

Speaking to Massawe Japanni on her Radio Jambo show, Shebesh described herself as "fifty and fabulous".

Asked what the secret to her youthful looks and beauty is, "Self-love, a loving family, to be loved and doing your work with a clean heart and above all self-awareness and being at peace."

She said: "I approached it with a lot of peace and self-awareness and developed another way of doing what I do, from politics to my projects. The most important is that  I have a family with beautiful children and a husband so I started prioritising what is important for my life."

Adding, "I found out that it is more important to have connections and relationships then, anything else, is a bonus. The important thing is, to find out, who is that one person you think about in your heart and you would pick up your phone and call to check up on? Or getting similar phone calls."

Asked about her star studded birthday party, Shebesh said, "I was overwhelmed by the love. I wanted to have a party every month after turning 50 but I realised I have more important things to do with my time. My people planned the 50th party for me, I'm surprised at how many people turned up for it."

She continued, "Some of whom I haven't talked to for a while and I told myself I have to remember to spend more time with them. Time is so important and time you cannot get back, for me, time is valuable and friendship is everything."
