• I have also shaved some of Kenya's millionaires - Barkat Ali Manji
• It's only after Covid-19 happened that he decided to convert his van into a barbershop.
Barkat Ali Manji has been trending for weeks after his mobile barbershop went viral.
He is the first mobile barber in the country.
It's only after Covid-19 happened that he decided to convert his van into a barbershop.
Among the clients, he shaves is Otile Brown and former Kiambu governor William Kabogo, Nick Mutuma among others.
He charges 3000 to 3500 per session.
Speaking about his work he said:
''I have clients who have booked me for a specific day and a specific time the whole year.
It's not been easy as sometimes I get very little sleep. But It's also a new market as most people do not find barbers as early as 5:00 am.
I have also shaved some of Kenya's millionaires. Even during this Covid-19, I would shave some clients up to 1:00 am but luckily they gave me an escort back home.
I want to have a few cars in the country.''
His work has not come without challenges, he narrates how a pump blew up when the mobile barbershop was new yet he was shaving a client.
Luckily for him, he quickly looked for a plan B.
Would you venture into a mobile barbershop business?
