A female parliamentary aspirant in Uganda has found herself in hot water after appearing to defend the actions of a house help who was captured on camera viciously assaulting a toddler left in her care.

Joweria Nakyeyuna who has already declared interest in representing Kawempe North constituency in Parliament come 2016, apparently did not see the error in the house help’s actions. She posted the following on her facebook page.

“Naye Ugandans with being diversionary! What is so unusual with the maid's actions? Some kids are hard-headed and ill mannered, they deserve to be beaten back to sense. Mbu charged with attempted murder, is a touch a deadly weapon? Only wasting taxpayer's money! Why do u go in marriage and put the burden of raising ur kid on another person? Mothers and fathers shd own up to their responsibility! Nothing the maid did is unusual, who has bothered to ask for a wage-little pay stirs up anger! May be the man of the house wanted to mount her! May be the lady of the house is cruel! Perhaps the kid is illmannered! A few hitting with a touch to raise such alarm!!! I think we ought to be objective...Let’s hear her out!!!”

The post attracted thousands of reactions on facebook and on twitter, with many calling her names and questioning her mental capacity to run for any public office.

Nakyeyuna who also considers herself a human rights activist, has become notorious for posting controversial comments on social media, often attracting a lot of vitriol from Ugandan citizens.
