The conman, Richard Achoki posed as a traffic police officer along the Nyamira-Kisii route.

Manga Police Station Commander Nelson Cheruiyot confirmed the incident saying

'Richard Achoki Nyaigoti with three other accomplices who managed to escape, had stopped a public service matatu at Nyabioto area along Nyamira-Kisii route at around 5:45am and demanded Sh3, 500 from the conductor when one of the passengers identified them to be impostors.'

Achoki was lynched by irate members of the public at Nyabioto area in Nyamira County.

“The commotion in the vehicle alerted members of the public who positively identified Achoki as a member of a criminal gang that has been terrorizing residents in the area and the surrounding,” the Police Commander said.

According to the station commander Achoki had earlier missed death by a whisker some time ago when members of the public set him ablaze allegedly for stealing but he was saved by Administration Police officers.

After recovering, no one was ready to testify against him before a court of law and he was set free from the cells but still continued with his criminal acts which have led to his death.
