Kenyan world javelin champion, Julius Yego is in mourning. His kogo - grandmother - is no more. She has gone to rest with the angels.

Yego is just coming from a tough period in his sporting career where he is recovering from a groin injury that prematurely ended his Olympic gold hunt.

After undergoing nine months rehabilitation, Yego still believes his performance has been greatly affected by the injury, which limited him to three throws in Rio, then earned him a silver medal, reports Xinhua news agency.

Slowly but surely the javelin master will be back to his medal winning form.

Yego took to social media to announce the sad news.

"My excitement of season's best yesterday was overshadowed by the demise of my lovely caring and generous Shosh!! But am happy she lived a heathy life until her demise ! We will surely miss you Shosh no one was that generous and a super guardian like you.

God's timings is the best go dance and rest with angels RIP grandma moshin cucu."

Adding, "Thanx guys for the condolences! We celebrate her life 93 plus is a bonus living."
