Tony Jaa, Michael Jai White and Ron Perlman are in the country as their first stop of Africa tour. The stars were yesterday hosted at Villa Rosa Kempinski at an exclusive red carpet event attended by local producers and actors. The star- studded event saw the A-list of the Kenya film and media industry mingle with the Hollywood stars who were in Nairobi on the first stop of an African tour hosted by Kempinski Hotels.Accompanied by their spouses, the group of special guests included film and TV producers Howard Klein and Craig Baumgarten, and actors Tony Jaa, Michael Jai White, and Ron Perlman, who all star in the upcoming film Skin Trade. The group arrived in Nairobi on Monday at the beginning of a ten-day trip through Africa with stops in Nairobi and the Masai Mara in Kenya, followed by Rwanda, and Djibouti. With millions of fans in Africa the actors’ first visit to the continent was met with much excitement.

Villa Rosa Kempinski pulled out all the stops for a remarkable event that showcased African hospitality at its finest. The actors and producers spoke to local media and film industry insiders about their upcoming projects and the great potential for the film industry in Kenya. The event included the screening of the official trailer of the upcoming film Skin Trade. The stars officially announced the April 2015 release in Kenya of the action-packed thriller about two detectives from opposite sides of the globe going after an international human trafficking ring. The highlight of the event came at the end when Actor Tony Jaa, the world’s top Muay Thai/Muay Boran expert, wowed the crowd with a masterful martial arts demonstration which included a precision kick reaching 2.5 metres into the air.
The group heads to Olare Mara Kempinski on Tuesday, then on to Kigali, Rwanda where Kempinski recently took over the famous Hotel des Mille Collines, and the tour ends at Djibouti Palace Kempinski later next week.
