Kenya is mourning the death of 24-year-old prison warder, Pauline Wangari.
She was strangled and stabbed by her Facebook date on the first night they meet.
“There were three visible knife wounds on the chest and the neck. We heard a commotion in her room on Saturday night before a man was seen walking out after 10pm,” recounted a neighbour who sought anonymity.
Police arrested Joseph Ochieng’ who said that he and Pauline had dated online for three months before they decided to meet for a face to face date.
He told detectives how travelled from Nairobi that morning to meet the deceased for the first time.
Prior to the tiff, the two are reported to have spent a significant part of Monday evening indoors. At one point in the evening, they had a disagreement.
According to Ochieng’s testimony, it was during the heated argument that he started strangling her and she fell down with a thud.
“Sent into panic mode, the suspect narrated how he reached for a kitchen knife and stabbed her in the chest, neck and abdomen, and, thereafter, put the knife firmly in her grip in a bid to make it look like Wangari had killed herself,” said the DCI officer.
Neighbours found the body of Pauline – a constable at Murang’a GK Prison – badly mutilated two days later.
She had been stabbed multiple times in the head, abdomen and neck.
May she rest in peace. Though she has gone too soon, here are the photos of Pauline that prove she was a budding fashionista.
