A pilot died this morning after a light aircraft he was in crashed near the Kenya Aviation Training School in Birika, Isinya, Kajiado County.
The pilot from the Kenya Wildlife Service was alone when the AutoGyro aircraft model Mtosport 2010 went down at about 7 Am.
Police and witnesses said the accident happened at the Orly Airpark during a routine training exercise.
The plane was burnt on crashing.
A statement by KWS reads,
“Today KWS is sad to confirm we unfortunately suffered an aircraft accident at 07:38am that resulted in one fatality and the loss of the aircraft.”
“The accident involved an AutoGyro aircraft model MTOsport2010 registered 5Y-KWV. The accident occurred at Orly Airpark during routine training exercises. A thorough investigation will be carried out as to the establish cause of the accident we convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved.”
