You might have thought that the viral, widely acclaimed dance song “Happy” that received two Grammy nominations this year earned millions of shillings in royalties but you're dead wrong.

Pharrell is now a sad man. Pandora, the platform on which the song was partly streamed on pays only 60 dollars for a million streams of a track. With calculations done right, he's meant to get only about 2,700 dollars with his song. This translates to roughly 244,609 shillings at the time of this posting.

Sony/ATV CEO Marty Bandier has voiced his concern, saying that “This is a totally unacceptable situation and one that cannot be allowed to continue.”

Pandora on the other hand is not keen to pay more, stating that it does its business fairly, having payed out more than 1 billion dollars to artists since its inception, which it claims is far more than half of the revenue it has made.
