Her constituents refer to her as Mama Country or Beautiful First Lady. And staying true to the title, Phoebe Munya - Governor Peter Munya's wife - is a stunning and lovely woman, and based on her county project she is also a woman with a heart of gold.

The mother of two - a boy and a girl - has been going around the country performing first lady duties here and there. She has been to a book drive at a school as well as meeting the disadvantaged to name but a few of her noble causes. In addition to this, Phoebe has a health challenge for all the warembo wa Meru. She aims at "attaining the ultimate healthy state of the body, mind and soul" - almost similar to American First Lady, Michelle Obama's initiative dubbed Let’s Move campaign which is aimed at revamping the way American children eat and play.

That aside, the Tigania East MP, Mpuru Aburi, tried to narrate how Phoebe and Peter meet during a church harambee in Meru a while back.

He claims Munya met his wife, Phoebe while working at Kiraitu Murungi’s law firm and that the MP has also helped him grab the gubernatorial seat.

Governor Munya laughed off all those claims.

“The fact that you offer pupilage does not mean you own those who pass through your hands. It is as preposterous as the claim that Kiraitu helped me become Meru governor when I was already a two-term MP in 2013. It leaves me wondering whether he also made me MP,” he TOLD NAIROBIAN.

According to the governor, the sentiments perpetrated the belief that “Kiraitu made me and he can unmake me,” yet when “I started the pupilage at Kamau Kuria and Kiraitu Advocates, the senator did not even know me,” said Munya. “I want to put it on record because they will next be saying that he gave me a scholarship to study for my LLM at the University of Georgia.”
