Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is set to walk down the aisle with her fiance lawyer Waiganjo Kimotho later today.

We can’t help but get excited on her behalf.

Unlike normal village weddings, Waiguru’s luxury and high-end nuptials that will be held in Kiamugumo Primary school, Kirinyaga County, will be very different.

Here are a few things that will not happen at Waiguru’s wedding.

  1. No Mashakura

It is obvious that Waiguru is a Kikuyu but this wedding will showcase the fact that not all Kikuyus love mashakura.

The wedding will have buffets of the finest foods after all don’t they say tumia pesa mpaka ikuzoee?

2. Attended by prominent people.

Most weddings are attended by the entire village but Waiguru’s wedding will be attended by the creme de la creme of the Kenyan society.

While we only see these people on our screens, the bride and groom will be rubbing shoulders with the who is who in the ruling class.

3. No pegs as gifts

In most weddings, the couple receives a bed, some a chair and to some extent, others have the guts to gift the newlywed couple, pegs.

That, I can promise you won’t happen at Waiguru’s ceremony. We can only imagine the gifts Waiguru and his bae will receive.

We suspect that cheques will be the order of the day.

4. No Probox

No offence, but these cars will be nowhere to be seen during Waiguru’s wedding and if they will, where will they be packed?

Truth be told, I would feel embarrassed to go to such an event in a Probox si watu watadhani nauzanga miraa?

Well, the parking lot will only be punctuated with heavy machinery from renown heavy-hitting brands like Mercedes, Prado, Jeep, Porsche among others.

5. No boring music

We are suspecting that the wedding will be full of live performances by various artistes, unlike village weddings where guests are entertained by a Pre-recorded CD.

We can only wait and see how the wedding will unfold.

Here is a video of the ongoing ceremony.
