A pastor and his two sons died in a grisly road accident when a vehicle ferrying illegal liquor from a neighbouring country rammed into their motorcycle Sunday night.

The accident that occurred at Boro, along the Siaya - Nyadorera road saw the bodies of the trio scattered along the highway, as the vehicle, a Toyota Wish registration number UBE 582 E also landed in a ditch a few metres from the scene.

The pastor and his sons were heading towards Nyadorera while the vehicle was driving to the opposite direction when the accident occurred at around 9.00 pm.

The villagers said vehicles ferrying contraband were notorious for knocking down people along the road and rarely are they brought to book as they are released immediately they arrive at the police.

"Like this vehicle here. We know it. Its driver is from this village and it has on several occasions been impounded but has always been released under circumstances we do not know," said a villager, adding that the same driver is known to be part of a syndicate of cattle rustlers who have been giving the residents of Kodiere and Kochieng sub locations sleepless nights.

Siaya county police commander, Francis Kooli confirmed the accident, saying that the bodies of the three were removed to Siaya county referral hospital mortuary.

Kooli said that police were yet to nab the driver of the vehicle and appealed to the public to help his officers bring him to book.
