From Origi's youthful dad to Hellen Obiri here is how top sports stars slayed at SOYA Awards 2018

Sports Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA Awards) went down last night at KICC's Tsavo ballroom. The who is who in the sporting fraternity was at hand to witness the stars of the night get awarded.

Hours before the grand ceremony, Tottenham Hotspur and Harambee Stars midfielder, Victor Wanyama called upon Kenyans to support local sports men and women.

Victor tweeted, "Niaje Wasee. As we celebrate the accomplishments of our Kenyan sportsmen and women, I just want to congratulate all those who were nominated and wish them all the best during the Soya Awards, Let’s come together and celebrate the next generation of greatness."

Paralympian champion Samuel Muchai bagged the coveted title of  2017 Sports Personality of the Year.

Muchai was also named as the male sports personality of the year with a disability. Meanwhile Hellen Obiri was named the women's sports personality of the year while Conseslus Kipruto was named the male sports personality of the year.

The guest of honour was Divork Origi's dad Mike Okoth and Deputy VP William Ruto.
