MORINE Sirera, a 32-year-old advocacy officer with Jhpiego, has said "I will" to her boyfriend of three years, Jeremiah Kanah, 32, a fullback at Parkroad Hockey Club. The famous Kenyan hockey player had walked around with the proposal ring for six months, waiting for the perfect time to pop the question to his girlfriend, now fiancée.

On Sunday, the hockey star caused a stir at a packed Koroga Festival, when he decided to go down on his knees in a well-timed move made when Congolese music maestro Koffi Olomide was at the peak of his performance.

The applauding noise from revellers almost prompted the lingala-rhumba legend to halt his act, as Kanah and Morine Sirera, temporary shifted the attention from the stage to the periphery.

The couple had dated for three years and Kanah (a utility defensive for Parkroad Hockey Club) had been plotting the proposal for over six months.

“It's been one of my most difficult six months ever. Carrying this ring around without raising suspicion has not been easy. The feeling is terrible but I have no regrets. She is the sweetest girl I know and she is the perfect woman for me,” he said.
