This year has been a rough one for Ohangla queen Lady Maureen so far.

The popular singer and her band members (Nyar Ng’ato traditional dancers) are currently spending time behind bars after they were arrested last week for entering Tanzania without travel documents.

Known for hits such as: Kogalo, Wangni Wabiro, Raila Jogi Jokuoge, Raila Jakom and Safari ya Canaan,  Lady Maureen and her crew were arraigned at the Mwanza High Court and sentenced to six months in jail. The bail is sh35,000 per person but they cannot afford.

They have been at Bukungu Prison Mwanza for nine days and she's appealing to well-wishers to help her.

According to sources, Lady Maureen's parents stay in Tanzania and she has performed in the neighbouring country severally.

A section of local artistes and Maureen's fans have proposed a harambee to help raise funds to free their darling.
