Oh no! Ethiopian airline ET 302 crashes with 157 people on board

Ethiopian airline flight  ET 302 from Bole international airport to Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta international airport has crashed.

The flight  lost contact in Bishoftu 60km south west of Addis Ababa at 8:44am.

The brand new Boeing 737-800 max was  delivered 4 months ago.

Search and rescue operation in progress.

The Ethiopian Prime Minister shared the sad news on Twitter and his statement read:

The Office of the PM, on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express it’s deepest condolences to the families of those that have lost their loved ones on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on regular scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya this morning.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has also send his condolences to the affected families and his message read:

We are saddened by the news of an Ethiopian Airlines passenger aircraft that is reported to have crashed 6 minutes after takeoff en route to Kenya. My prayers go to all the families and associates of those on board.

Raila Odinga tweeted:

My deeply felt condolences to the people of Ethiopia following the crash of the Ethiopian Airlines plane. My prayers are with the families and relatives of victims.

Ethiopian airline has released hotline numbers for families with loved ones who were on board the ill-fated plane to call and inquire more.
